Kodak Plus-X

What Kodak Plus-X actually looks like — 34 photographs shot on it by members here.

ISO 125 · Black & white · 34 photographs · 3 developing recipes

Kodak Plus-X was a medium-speed black-and-white film, rated ISO 125, and for decades it was Kodak's everyday fine-grain film alongside Tri-X. Kodak discontinued it around 2010, so any Plus-X shot today comes from old stock, and many photographs of it are scans of older negatives.

It is remembered for fine grain, good sharpness and a smooth, classic tonality that sits between the bite of Tri-X and the cleaner look of T-Max. Expired rolls usually need extra exposure — a common rule of thumb is about a stop for every decade past the date — and some base fog is normal. The closest films still made are Ilford FP4 Plus, also ISO 125, and Kodak T-Max 100.
