Ilford FP4 Plus

What Ilford FP4 Plus actually looks like — 14 photographs shot on it by members here.

ISO 125 · Black & white · 14 photographs · 4 developing recipes

Ilford FP4 Plus is a classic medium-speed black-and-white film, rated ISO 125, with fine traditional grain that looks organic rather than clinical. It has been part of Ilford's range for decades and is made in 35mm, 120 and sheet sizes, which is why it shows up so often in medium and large format work.

It has wide latitude for a slow film and a smooth, long tonal scale that suits landscapes, portraits and still life. Many people rate it at 100 or 125, and it responds well to pulling for high-contrast scenes. For a sharper, more modern fine-grain look, compare it with Kodak T-Max 100; for more speed in the same traditional style, Ilford HP5 Plus.
