Privacy Policy – Film Spot Meter

Effective October 23, 2026

Film Spot Meter uses your iPhone’s camera only to measure light. It never takes, saves, or sends photos or video, and it has no account, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.

Who we are

Film Spot Meter is an iPhone app published by Ken Mullinix (“we,” “us”). This policy covers the Film Spot Meter app.

The camera

Film Spot Meter asks for camera access so it can work as a light meter. While the app is open, it reads the brightness of the live camera picture and the camera’s exposure settings to calculate a reading.

If you don’t allow camera access, you can still use the app by entering a light value by hand.

Your settings

The app remembers your choices, such as film speed, aperture, calibration, film type, and bellows measurements, so they’re ready next time. These are stored on your iPhone only. Shadow and highlight readings are kept only while the app is open.

We don’t operate any servers for the app, and the app doesn’t include analytics tools, advertising networks, or other third-party code that collects data. We don’t sell, rent, or share your information, because we never receive it.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or your computer, your settings may be included in that backup. Backups are handled by Apple or your computer and are not accessible to us.

Your choices

Children

Film Spot Meter doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Film Spot Meter handles information, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change means data would leave your iPhone, we’ll explain it in the app before it happens.
