"Nana I ke kumu" (Look to the source). I carved it from a 4-ton block of Indiana limestone, and it depicts an anonymous Polynesian woman, among those very first voyagers to discover and come ashore in the Hawaiian Islands. The sculpture is located on the grounds next to Honolulu Hale. The figure is looking South toward Tahiti and the Marquesas, the islands of origin.
