Autumn contest

Should we be allowed to like or comment on a photo entry for the autumn contest? In another forum I visit we cannot like or comment until the final results are posted. I suppose that is so the judges won't be influenced by the count or comments. Anyway, not complaining one way or the other, just curious.

Hi Terry. Good question. I thought about removing likes and comments, but for this contest went a different route. My fix is that this particular contest is being judged by my wife. Once the contest ends, she gets a page with all of the photos, devoid of any identifying factors; no likes, comments, or usernames. Just the images. She’s also agreed to not use the site until after the contest. This was my best idea for also not letting her develop a favorite photographer. With this method it will be completely based on photo merit. We could always turn off likes on the next contest. Would likely need to since the judge will be different. Thanks for the message!

A thought (for the next contest) would be to maybe allow likes/comments, but don't display them (keeping them a mystery) until the end of said contest, then let them be revealed

The contest I’m talking about is actually judged by the members of the group. Usually just the 5 to 10 members that participate. It’s a weekly thing, starts on Tuesday, votes are tabulated the following Tuesday, entrant that wins chooses the next subject. It’s mostly a digital group but a few of us throw in a film shot or two.
