Deterring site content, feels weird

So, submitting a photo (6th, and final, from a roll) I get a message. Friendly enough wording I guess, but the meaning feels less so. "You've uploaded a lot of photos today. Please try again tomorrow."

Personally I feel like such a limit is definitely going to be detrimental to engagement, growth, and artistic expression.

Just a thought. :)

This was put in place to curb bot attacks. Basically if a bot is able to join and clears the first manual upload check, and then uploads hundreds of random photos, it can crash the site before I even know there’s an issue. We can change to more than six though :)

Update: I've increased the photo limit to 30 in a 24 hour period. I've also created a notice that will appear when you're getting close to that number, instead of just randomly blocking your upload. I've also created a bulk upload feature where you can upload up to 12 photos at once. Let me know if that throws any errors.

I completely understood the reasoning behind implementing an upload block, but I did think 5 (or 6) was a bit stiff. Thank you for expanding that number, it's appreciated, and thanks for the work I've been seeing you do with the changes and feature adds. Great work!

Oh, and huge thanks for "Featuring" one of my shots in "Editor's Pic". That was wildly unexpected!

I had a thought about that "Featured Photo" section. Do with it what you will hahaha. On the far right, there's a "See the photograph" link. Thing is, they are already seeing it the photo! Yeah, they can click to see it a bit larger, and to see the other details of the photo, but.... what it that link was a "See the Photographer", and links to their photo library, so the viewer can see more of that photographer's work? That seems like it might be a more compelling <click>. :)

It's a great photo! I love the abandoned stuff. I like the idea about "See the Photographer". I have a question you may be able to help with. Would you find any value in some type of blog built into the profile page? What I mean is that you and others may be working on projects etc, and I'd like to capture those ideas, but currently profile pages are just a collage of images. Lets say your going back into the desert and you have stops planned, etc. No one can follow along at the moment. They would just see the final result, and not the journey. Maybe some kind of "Upcoming plans" section, or something like that. Just brainstorming. Would like your input!

Regarding a profile blog. I am happy to offer my opinion, but fear you may be asking the wrong person on this. I think there's a good argument for having one, and think that there is a certain subset of people who would likely use it. Personally, I would likely not use something like that. Not because I don't see the value in it, but because I find it hard to commit to using it and devoting the time necessary to write a blog. I do love the concept tremendously, and think I would enjoy it immensely if I were to use a blog, but I just don't. hahaha. I would like to think I could change my behavior in that regard, but haven't had success when I've tried in the past, so....

On a related topic, I don't recall there being an "About the photographer" section for profiles. I think that would make sense to have before a full-blown blog. Maybe I missed it, and it does exist though. that's certainly possible.

Thanks for the input! I have the same feelings about it. It would be helpful for some and burdensome for others. Maybe we'll get there at some point.
