About

A mail-in film lab operating since 1976, The Darkroom serves photographers nationwide through a postage-paid mailer system: you send your rolls in, they process and scan, and your images land in a free online gallery for download, with negatives returned by mail. Their processing covers all three major chemistries — C-41 color, E-6 slide/transparency, and true black & white — across a wide range of formats: 35mm, 120/220/620 medium format, 110, 126, APS/Advantix, sheet film, and single-use/disposable cameras. They also handle specialty work that many labs won't touch, including cross-processing, dedicated true B&W developing, and recovery of old or long-expired film found in attics and estate cameras. Scanning is offered in tiered resolutions (standard, enhanced, and high-res "super" scans) so customers can match output to their intended use, from web sharing to large prints. Beyond developing, The Darkroom offers a full print menu — genuine photographic prints and enlargements from negatives, slides, or digital files, silver-halide B&W prints — plus photo products on canvas, HD aluminum, acrylic blocks, wood, and framed desktop pieces. Optional USB delivery and mobile apps (iOS/Android) round out the workflow. A long-running, award-recognized lab with a strong following among both enthusiasts and working photographers, The Darkroom also maintains an extensive film-education library (their Film Index and Film School) covering film stocks, formats, and technique.
